Issue/Introduction

On the LUA (LiveUpdate Administrator) the path "%ProgramData%\Symantec\LiveUpdate Administrator\Downloads" contains many files that are taking up a lot of disk space.

Can these files be deleted?

Environment

Release : LUA 2.x

Resolution

This directory is the Download directory for the LUA, configured in the console under Configure > Preferences > Environment variables > Download directory. Default path is C:\ProgramData\Symantec\LiveUpdate Administrator\Downloads. It is used to download all updates as needed.

After updates are downloaded to this location, they are copied to the distribution servers as configured under Configure > Distribution Centers.

You can delete the contents of this folder, and updates will be downloaded again as needed. Note that you'll want to do it while a Download or Distribute schedule is NOT running to avoid errors.

Another alternative would be to move this location to a disk with more room (if feasible).
