Issue/Introduction

Out of box, the privileged user of Service Desk is ServiceDesk for windows and srvcdesk for Linux/Unix. Should you change it?

Environment

Release : 17.3

Component : SDM - Configuration

Resolution

This privileged user id is an OS id and it is used by Service Desk to interact with OS. It is also used by Service Desk for integrations with other applications like Jaspersoft.

General speaking, we recommend secure the OS instead of changing this user id. However, if it is stand alone Service Desk app, you can run pdm_configure as an OS admin to change it to something that fits your organization policy. And we don't recommend changing it if Service Desk is integrated with other apps like Jaspersoft as that would involve changes in other configurations and settings as well and those changes are error prone.
