Issue/Introduction

Symantec Protection Engine (SPE) logs the following error while scanning a file;

Cause

While SDS was trying to read a file, an I/O error under certain conditions. SDS would return this I/O error to Stargate. Stargate did not specifically translate this error, and thus the I/O error turned into a “generic” error 0x80800204. Symantec Protection Engine logs 0x80800204 as Antivirus / 11 to indicate that the scan of the file did not complete.

Resolution

BROADCOM commits to resolve this issue in an upcoming release of the Stargate engine via LiveUpdate.
