Intermittent and random logouts seen in 12.1 Web Viewer

Issue/Introduction

After an upgrade to Web Viewer (Version:12.1.6Build:218)  in a little used development environment and an associated change to use SSL we are seeing random instances of users being logged out and returned to the sign on screen.
There is no pattern to this, a user can be logged on for a less than a minute or more than ten navigating various panels/reports etc., but eventually they are logged out and returned to the sign on screen.
The SSL change was suspected initially but this has been backed out. Testing has shown the logouts still occur so it has been reinstated.
This behavior can be seen on Chrome, Edge or IE.

Resolution

Customer found their F5 (Load Balancer) to be the culprit here. Changes were made to F5 to restore Web Viewer functionality/stability, but details were not provided.
