Issue/Introduction

The full message is RCS011I: LOGON REJECTED FOR TERMINAL XXXXXXXX. REASON: NO RESOURCES. In addition, ROSCOE may hang.

Resolution

Cause:

There is no SCB (SESSION CONTROL BLOCK) available for the user.

Resolution/Workaround:

  • Review and increase the TERMSO and MPL parameter values.
MPL is a Roscoe startup initialization parameter which defines the number of 10K user execution areas, (Multi-Programming Levels). The basic calculation is that MPL should be: MPL = 3 + (TERMSO / 5).
  • The value for LIBXLIB may also need to be increased.
NOTE: LIBXLIB= should be at least two times the value of the MPL= startup parameter plus two times the number of printers defined to RPS.
  • If these parameters are already set to the maximum, 256, it may be necessary to add another Roscoe region.

Additional Information:

For additional information, please refer to 1.10.22 MPL= Parameter in the CA Roscoe Program and Utilities Guide r6
