Environment

Release : 2.6

Component : Quick-Fetch for OS/390

Common Services r15

Resolution

Two APARs that correct problems that exhibit the same external symptoms from QuickFetch.

  1. QuickFetch PTF LU04808 corrects an S0C3 abend in QuickFetch code processing a module fetch request. The problem fixed here is incorrect handling of an internal QuickFetch control block that can occur as the result of a small timing exposure. The abend is in module QFSSUBS at offset 246.
  2. CA Common Services APAR LT05923 also corrects an S0C3 abend at the same location in QuickFetch code when processing a module fetch request. If the client has PTF LU04808 installed, then they should install this Common Services fix LT05923 (or LU05923 after publication). QuickFetch makes use of the CAMASTER address validation services to verify access to storage and therefore may incur this problem.
