Issue/Introduction

We are receiving Authentication Failure trap alarms for a device model in Spectrum where the offending ip address is the ip address of the SpectroSERVER system.

A sniffer trace from the SpectroSERVER shows the snmp from Spectrum to the device ip address is received and responded to by the device. However, every 5 minutes the device send three Authentication Failure traps to the Spectrum where the offending ip is the ip address of the SpectroSERVER system.

Cause

For this particular issue, the root cause was a duplicate ip address. There is a device modeled in Spectrum where the ip address used to model this device was also a configured ip address on the device sending the Authentication Failure traps.

Environment

Release : Any

Component : Spectrum Core / SpectroSERVER

Resolution

The user removed the configuration of the duplicate ip address from the device that was sending the Authentication Failure traps.
