Printing reports from the Gen Toolset printing as text files

Issue/Introduction

Is there a way to export a report (for example a “Column Definition” report) in the Gen Toolset to a .txt file? The only option shown is printing the report.

Resolution

The Gen Toolset report printer references/uses defined printers defined in Windows settings for 'Printers and Scanners'.  Define a generic text printer within Windows settings.  Then when printing a report from within the Toolset, display the report to print, next select the menu item File/Print and select the 'Generic / Text Only' printer defined and also check the 'Print to file' checkbox (see image below).   This will print the report to a text file. 

 

Here are other work-arounds that are not ideal:

After you display the report in the Toolset, perform a copy and paste to a notepad of the displayed report.  OR   Display the report then go to the menu item File/Rename and give the report a name (test123).  Next go to the local model directory and under the directory reports/xml, you should have a test123.html that you can display.
