Need to know how to set up the DCS Linux agents using dual mode so SEP AV & DCS IPS can be used together
Release : 6.9.2
Component : DCS Agent
Symantec Endpoint Protection (SEP) Linux client and the Data Center Security Linux agent can now coexist on the same system beginning with DCS 6.9.2
To upgrade your Linux agents to dual mode support, refer to the table below:
Previously Installed Agent | Installation Sequence | Result |
DCS <= 6.9.1 Installed | 1. Run the DCS Linux agent installer (>= 6.9.2). 2. To manage AntiMalware from SEP, install the SEP Linux agent after the DCS Linux agent is 6.9.2 or higher |
1. The DCS agent is upgraded. AntiMalware is managed by DCS
2. Dual Mode: AntiMalware is managed by SEP. DCS manages IPS and IDS
|
DCS >= 6.9.2 Installed | To manage the AntiMalware from SEP, install SEP Linux (DCS must already be 6.9.2 or higher) | Dual Mode: AntiMalware is managed by SEP, DCS manages IPS and IDS |
SEP Linux 14.3 RU1/RU2 installed | 1. Run the SEP Linux agent installer (>=SEP Linux 14.3) 2. Next, run the DCS Linux agent Installer (>= 6.9.2) |
1. The SEP agent is upgraded and Antimalware is managed by SEP 2. Dual Mode: AntiMalware is managed by SEP, DCS manages IPS and IDS |
SEP Linux >= 14.3 RU3 installed | Run the DCS Linux agent installer (>= 6.9.2) | 1. SEP Agent is upgraded and managed by SEP 2. Dual Mode: AntiMalware is managed by SEP, DCS manages IPS and IDS |
NOTE: Since the SEP Linux agent manages antimalware in a dual mode environment, you must restore your antimalware management if you uninstall the SEP Linux Agent. Use your Data Center Security Manager to send antimalware configurations to your Data Center Security Linux agent to restore antimalware management by Data Center Security.
