Which ciphers does the Edge SWG (formerly ProxySG) and BCAAA support for Kerberos Authentication?

Issue/Introduction

You would like to determine which ciphers are supported by the Edge SWG (formerly ProxySG) and BCAAA products in respect to Kerberos authentication.

Resolution

The Edge SWG (formerly ProxySG) supports RC4 and AES for Kerberos authentication. Supported ciphers are as follows:

• AES256-CTS-HMAC-SHA1-96 
• AES128-CTS-HMAC-SHA1-96 
• RC4-HMAC 
• DES-CBC-MD5 and DES-CBC-CRC (which are disabled by default on Windows machines) 

BCAAA is an application/agent that runs based off a Windows service and utilizes the Windows API to run queries for DC Users and Groups. In other words, the BCAAA agent piggybacks or utilizes its respective host workstation services in order to conduct inbound/outbound authentication related communication as necessary. For this reason, supported ciphers would need to be verified at the host OS level.
