Issue/Introduction

XCOMS8000E ERROR ACCESSING TRANSMISSION QUEUE when Sending to CA XCOM for I5/OS (AS/400).

Environment

Release: CA XCOM Data Transport for I5/OS
Component: XCAS4R

Cause

CA XCOM Data Transport on AS/400 cannot get Access to the Queue File.  If this error happens at regular intervals, it is most likely due to a backup being run at that time, so CA XCOM Data Transport was unable to access the queue file

Other less likely causes of this message are:

  • Upgrading from a previous release rather than deleting or renaming the current CA XCOM Data Transport library and doing a new install.
  • Insufficient authority to access the queue.

Resolution

CA XCOM Data Transport must be down when a full backup is being done which includes the whole XCOM2 library (or whatever the CA XCOM Data Transport library is named). Change the backup to a time when CA XCOM Data Transport is not actively transferring files or perform the backup at a time when CA XCOM Data Transport is not running.

This is a fatal error and will not be retried. The transfer(s) need to be resubmitted from the sending side.
