Issue/Introduction

Is there any way to turn off SYSVIEW data collection temporarily or for a longer period?

Resolution

To turn off data collection permanently, the SVW$MAIN and SVW$USER parmlib members should be modified. All the options that will be after the )EOF statement are ignored. 
NOTE: SVW$MAIN and SVW$USER are the default names, to check if it is the same in your instance check the SYSVIEW and SYSVUSER STCs.  

SVW$MAIN parmlib member changes. Move the )EOF statement right after below two lines.

Also, in case you would like to turn off all data collection just for a short period of time, then would be much easier to do it from the ASADMIN screen by issuing STOP subcmd in front of subtask SCHEDULR, this will stop the scheduling process of data collection, see screenshot below. 

To verify, use the SCHED command to check if any data collection is scheduled. Status INACTIVE proof that data collection is turned off.
