Issue/Introduction

When using webview 10.7 on Chrome intermittently the dashboard select panel can be blank as in the image below. The same works OK in Internet Explorer. The below images show the working vs not working scenario.

Environment

Chrome Version 98.0.4758.102 (Official Build) (32-bit)
CA Wily Introscope(R) Version 10.7.0.45
Webview version: Introscope WebView Release 10.7.0.309 (Build 997101)

Cause

There was a defect in WebView, that reset.css was not loaded correctly. The affected versions are from 10.7.0.285 to 10.7.0.349. It causes usually only a bad layout (buttons outside the screen, dots in the tabs after HOME, INVESTIGATOR, ...,  strange spaces), but also other strange behavior can be seen in the environment with 700+ dashboards with very long names. It could be caused also by a strange character in the dashboard name, but all the impacted management modules would be needed to investigate it further.

Resolution

The issue is only with the browser version. This is working in the latest browser versions:

  • Chrome 100.0.4896.75 (Official Build) (64-bit)/(32-bit)
  • Firefox: 99.0.1

Workaround: The issue appears to be related to the size of the browser window on the screen. The issue can be fixed by making the browser window slightly smaller by selecting the 'Restore Down' button on the top right of the Chrome browser window. The below images show the working vs not working scenario.

Additional Information

If you will face a similar issue and the upgrade to the latest version of your Chrome will not help you, please open a new case with Broadcom Support and attach some screenshots of the working and not working dashboard dropdown select panel to compare and the HAR file from the issue replication. The HAR (HTTP Archive) is a file format used by several HTTP session tools to export the captured data. This can be highly useful in troubleshooting complex issues by obtaining additional information about the network requests that are generated in the browser while an issue occurs. You can generate one by following the following google support page below. Please enable the preserve logging check box in Development tools when generating this HAR file as on the image below.
