Issue/Introduction

Staffing Plan totals for a resource don't get updated after a series of updates in New UX. Performance Issue. MSSQL Server environment. Usability issue when updating the Staffing Plan allocation data.  Users are confused if the update went through for the allocation or not.

Steps to Reproduce:

  1. Take a large enough Customer, having around 5K resources
  2. Login to new UX
  3. Navigate to Staffing Plan
  4. Click on Investments - Resources to bring up the investments view
  5. Take an investment with around 100 resources assigned
  6. Modify the allocation for a resource for a month, wait for 2 secs, press tab and then edit the allocation for next month
  7. Repeat Step #6 -- 4 to 5 times

Expected Results: The Totals Field of the resource should get updated with the Allocation totals of the resource for this investment.

Actual Results: The totals stop updating after a few tries.

Environment

Release : 16.0.2

Component : Clarity New UX Usability - Microsoft SQL Server

Cause

DE64991

Resolution

DE64991 was reviewed by engineering and determined this is working as designed.

It was intentionally designed  to explicitly not send an update while cells are in edit mode.

Tabbing into the next cell puts the destination cell in edit mode.

The idea was to allow multiple changes to be made to a row before sending the update.

Moving to a new row or using the mouse to click into a cell without opening it will send the update and then totals get updated.  Refreshing the page will also update the totals.
