Issue/Introduction

Here are useful CA Roscoe ETSO console commands for the operator or users with ETSO privileges. Some commands are specific to ETSO, but some are general.

Here is a summary of the commands that may be entered.

ETSO Informational

  • QUERY ALLOCATE ALL Displays status information about all allocated files for a specific user.
    By key enter key=usersignonkey instead of all
  • QUERY CALL ALL Displays status information about all currently executing applications.
    By key enter key=usersignonkey instead of all
  • DMS
    [BLANK] Displays all available storage information about all users currently signed on.
    A Writes the information to the active AWS. If omitted, the information is written to the terminal.
    AWS Displays information about all users using an AWS.
    DSF Displays information about all users using the Data Set Facility.
    KEY=key Displays all available storage information for the user whose key is specified.
    LIB Displays information about all users using the Library Facility.

  • ROSCOE Displays a list of all users signed on to Roscoe (general command)

Cancel and Free Commands for ETSO

can be used to terminate a specific user or free a suspended ETSO application.

  • Cancel Syntax:
    Cancel key=key is the sign-on key of the ETSO user whose application is to be terminated. The key may be qualified with: screenid is the number of the presentation area in which the application is currently executing. If omitted, the default is 1.
    Cancel ETSO causes the currently suspended ETSO application to be terminated. CANCEL ETSO may be issued by any
    ROSCOE user.
    NOTE: For more information, enter HELP CANCEL on the Roscoe command line.

  • Free Syntax:
      Free ALL         releases all files allocated by the ETSO user signed on.
      Free ddname      is the DD name of the file to be deallocated.  A maximum of ten files can be deallocated. 

    Free key=key is the sign-on key of the user whose files are to be deallocated. The key may be qualified with: screenid is the number of the presentation area in which the file is allocated. If omitted, the default is 1.
    NOTE: For more information, enter HELP FREE on the Roscoe command line.

Free Dataset (for General Use)

  1. If you know the userid, you may ask the user to detach the data set, otherwise you'll have to FLUSH the user.

  2. If there is no user who owns the data set, but ROSCOE is shown to have the shared ENQ, you may use a system monitor to deallocate it.

  3. If the two actions above do not free the dataset you will have to shutdown ROSCOE to free it.

Operator commands to sign users off (for General Use)

OPR OFF    signs all users off Roscoe.
OPR FLUSH  key=usersignonkey   or
ROZAP      Flush key=usersignonkey  Flushes off the user whose key is specified.
