How do I restore a corrupt comstore.enc file?

If caf start command returns error

 

Initialisation failed

 

This could be caused by a corrupted or missing comstore.enc.

 

How to restore a corrupted comstore.enc file ?

 

Environment

Client Automation - All versions.

 

Cause

File comstore.enc is corrupted or missing

 

On Windows this file is located under

C:\Program Files (x86)\CA\DSM\Agent\CCNF

 

On Unix/Linux it is located under

/opt/CA/DSM/Agent/CCNF

 

Resolution

PrevComStore.enc, comstore.enc.sav and comstore.enc.old files can be used to restore a corrupt comstore.enc.

 

Check if the size of one of the above files matches (approximately) with the size of comstore.enc.

1. Rename comstore.enc to something else.
2. Rename the file (PrevComStore.enc or comstore.enc.sav or comstore.enc.old) that matches comstore.enc size to comstore.enc.

Recycle CAM and CAF:

camclose
caf stop
caf start

 

If all .enc files are missing or corrupted, copy comstore.enc from another machine of same OS with same ITCM version.
