Issue/Introduction

The CA7 started task is receiving a number of the following VTAM ACB OPEN errors:

CA-7.V001 08 5A 00 00000000 082004 00000000 00 OPEN ACB FAIL

CA-7.CMGR VTAM ACB OPEN FAILED

Resolution

 A common cause of these errors is due to the VTAM APPLID defined in the CA 7 init deck not being active.  The UCC7VTAM statement  in the CA 7 init deck will contain value APPL  which specifies the name of the VTAM ACB that defines CA 7 to VTAM.  There is no default for  APPL .  To address these error verify that the value specified for APPL on the UCC7VTAM statement in the CA 7 init deck  is active in VTAM by issuing the following OS command:
