Product: CA Workload Automation AE (AutoSys)
Release: 12.1 and higher
Database: Oracle
The Oracle client on the Application Server machine is encountering network connectivity failures when communicating with the AutoSys database (AEDB). Hostname resolution issues typically trigger ORA-12571: TNS:packet writer failure, preventing the Application Server from verifying the database schema version.
Update the Oracle TNS configuration to use the database server's direct IP address instead of its hostname:
On the AutoSys Application Server host, locate the tnsnames.ora file (typically in $ORACLE_HOME/network/admin or defined by %TNS_ADMIN%).
Open tnsnames.ora in a text editor.
Locate the entry for the affected Oracle Event Server (ORCL1 / ORCL2).
Update the HOST parameter in the connection string to use the static IP address of the Oracle database server instead of the hostname:
(ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = <Database_IP_Address>)(PORT = <Port>))
Save the file.
Restart the AutoSys Application Server.
