Issue/Introduction

How to safely power down the CAS appliance, to perform maintenance or move the hardware. 

Resolution

The safest way is to connect to the CAS command line interface either via serial console or SSH and run the following commands

1. Go to the command-line interface.

2. Type:

CAS> enable
Password:
CAS# shutdown

3.Unplug the power cord(s).

Do NOT turn off the appliance power without executing the proper shutdown procedure. Unplugging the power cords when the appliance is turned on will corrupt the file system.
