Issue/Introduction

There are options in the IT Analytics (ITA) console under Settings > Servers to change the SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS) server, SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) server, and SQL Server Agent host. There is no option to change the server hosting the ITAnalytics relational database, however.

Resolution

To point ITA at a different database without performing a new installation using the ITA installation media, follow this procedure:

1. On the application server hosting IT Analytics, open Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager
2. On the left-hand side of the application in the Connections pane, navigate to <Server_Name> > Sites > IT Analytics Server
3. In the main section of the application labelled IT Analytics Server Home, double-click the icon labelled Connection Strings (located in the ASP.NET subsection)
4. Edit the data source in the Connection String for BayDynamics.ITAnalyticsServer.Web.Properties.Settings.DatabaseConnectionString to point to the new ITA database
5. Restart the IIS service (World Wide Web Publishing Service) or the ITAnalyticsServer_AppPool

NOTE: Any references within the database to the SSAS and SSRS servers should be updated prior to migrating the database.
