Clarity Rally Connections - Parent field not being pulled from Rally

Issue/Introduction

During the Rally to Clarity sync direction the 'Parent' attribute is not populating into Clarity when building Hierarchies based on the parent/child relationship from Rally. The mapping is set correctly between Rally and Clarity for the attribute 'Parent'. When we try to update the selection from “Update” to “Create and Update” we receive the following error: “For Clarity field 'Parent' and Rally field 'Parent', only Update is supported as Sync Option.”

Resolution

Check the 'Include In Hierarchies' option on the Custom Investment in Clarity to be able to build hierarchies based on the parent/child relationship from Rally, and to sync Rally initiatives and existing investments in the organization.

- Parent will map on Update of an object in Rally and not on Create of the object in Clarity
- Sync Option selected for Parent is “Update”

Additional Information

For the Parent attribute to sync between Clarity and Rally, the Rally Portfolio Items and Clarity Investments must be in place first....then the next step (another sync job run) is to sync associated Parent relationships having been established in either system. The Rally Portfolio Items and Clarity Investments must be in place first, then Parent relationships can be sync'd.
