Issue/Introduction

When logging into the IBM iSeries server with local profile, if the profile is expired, the screen to create/reset a new password is not rendered.
The system continually reverts back to the initial sign on screen and after entering the correct profile and an expired password for a prompt to reset it, the login looped back to same screen over and over.

Environment

Release : 7.2.1

Component :

Cause

The User's Profile is expired and user is unable to reset his/her password.

The INI file is copied to C:\Users\<User Profile>\Documents\<Exe Name>.ini during CA Plex installation. The above problem will occur if the INI file is set to "Ready Only" for security purposes.

Resolution

The INI file is copied to C:\Users\<User Profile>\Documents\<Exe Name>.ini during CA Plex installation. The above problem will occur if the installed INI file is Ready Only.

Customer's INI file may have been set to "Read Only" permission as security measure or during Windows Security updates.  If the INI is "Ready Only", this will prevent the user from resetting their expired profile password and displays the windows that says their profile has expired.

The Solution is to Delete the INI file and allow the system to regen the new one during relaunch.

Once the INI file is deleted by privileged user/Superuser, the next time the application is launched, it automatically creates a new INI file with write permission enabled. User can launch login and get the prompt shown below to reset and verify his/her password.
