"Unable to find layout.properties file" error during R12.8.x AdminUI install

Issue/Introduction

The "Unable to find layout.properties file" error during R12.8.x install occurs from a common oversight when performing a stand-alone installation.

 

Environment

Release: R12.8 Any
Component: WAMUI

Cause

The prerequisite and UI installers need to be in the same directory so that it can find the layout.properties and Framework.

The downloads are separate so it is natural that they would be unzipped into separate folders. If the prerequisite and UI installer are located in separate directories you will see the "Unable to find layout.properties file" error.

Resolution

Consolidating the extracted files into the same folder will correct the error.

Installation Prerequisites

Before you install the Administrative UI, be aware of the following information:

• The prerequisite installer has one installation zip file and the Administrative UI has another installation zip file. Extract the executables to the same location.
• The Administrative UI installation zip contains a layout.properties file. If you move the installation media after extracting the installation zip, move the properties file to the same location or the installation fails.
