Upgrade of Domain Manager hangs with execution of process hmwsaftercopy.exe

Issue/Introduction

During upgrade of Domain Manager, process hmwsaftercopy.exe and take several minutes/hours to be completed

Environment

Client Automation - All versions.

Cause

If Alert Collector is installed, following command is executed during upgrade :

hmwsaftercopy.exe install "C:\Program Files (x86)\CA\DSM\webservices\HM"

If there are thousands of xml files in C:\Program Files (x86)\CA\DSM\AlertCollectorInput, completion of this command could take several hours

Resolution

Delete all files older than 30 days in C:\Program Files (x86)\CA\DSM\AlertCollectorInput 

forfiles /P "C:\Program Files (x86)\CA\DSM\AlertCollectorInput" /D -30 /C "cmd /c del /Q @file"

And try again the upgrade
