Issue/Introduction

If mixed case password support is not functioning properly, here are the items to check.

Environment

Roscoe® Interactive Environment 6.0

Resolution

If mixed case password support is not working correctly, please check the following:

  1. PWDCASE=MIXED is included in the STARTUP parms. You may have to add it to the list of startup parms. Note: PWDCASE=UPPER is the default. Roscoe must be recycled to pick up this parameter.
  2. If you are running a SIGEXIT, review your exit to be sure any input is treated as mixed case. In addition, if your SIGEXIT requests a user response, SIGEXIT must now translate that response to uppercase. The documentation update is published in informational apar QI87628 - DOC - EXTENDED FACILITIES GUIDE: SIGEXIT
  3. You must be running with External Security for Roscoe. Check the Roscoe log if you are uncertain.
  4. Check for an ACFEXIT in the Roscoe loadlib. This user exit is not required in Roscoe 6.0 and should be removed.
  5. Your Security package must be correctly set up to handle mixed case passwords.
  6. Check the Roscoe log. If you see message: ROS003I STARTUP PARM PWDCASE= FORCED to UPPER, this means your system does not have the proper support for mixed case.
  7. If you cannot identify the cause, contact Broadcom Support.
