Operating System and Kernel version in Endpoint Detection and Response

Issue/Introduction

A request is made to know the Operating System (OS) and Kernel version of Symantec Endpoint Detection and Response (SEDR) however, attempts to run standard Linux commands to find this information fail.

Environment

SEDR 4.10.0-256 - 4.12.0-73

 

Cause

The SEDR appliance does not allow direct access to underlying OS commands (i.e. uname or cat) that display the OS and Kernel version information.

Resolution

Version 4.10.0-256 - 4.12.0-73:

• OS: Oracle Linux Server 8.8
• Kernel version: 4.18.0-513.24.1.el8_9.x86_64
