CA Application Experience Analytics SaaS (AXA)

Issue/Introduction

Per our conversation with Engineering last month ,there is a time series data source which can help us in getting the metrics. This is critical in our troubleshooting process.

Environment

Release : SAAS

Component : CA APP EXPERIENCE ANALYTICS SAAS

Resolution

Broadcom's version of Grafana (DX-Dashboards) does not support time series data from our AXA indices. So this would not work in the current situation. An enhancement request would be needed to make this available.

Here is an alternate option

Use DX-Dashboard
Build multiple panels, each with 9am-5pm data for specific days/weeks
Collate all panels on the same Dashboard
Use this to do trend analysis or comparisons

Ex: https://community.grafana.com/t/setting-different-panels-to-different-time-ranges-in-a-single-dashboard/37408

Time series data is enabled for

ao_axa_sessions
ao_axa_session_events
ao_axa_app_flow
ao_axa_app_transactions
ao_axa_mdo_network_counter * (hour, day, week etc.)

So time series data is just the index setting. Any Elastic index can have this setting - Its called index mapping (https://www.elastic.co/blog/elasticsearch-as-a-time-series-data-store)

The way the visualization tools read the mapping is here:

Grafana also supports Elastic time series data : https://grafana.com/blog/2016/03/09/how-to-effectively-use-the-elasticsearch-data-source-in-grafana-and-solutions-to-common-pitfalls/ (This is done using what Grafana calls "templated queries")
