Issue/Introduction

We need to reload the OS on a Cloud Machine. How will this affect 12.1 Web Viewer? Will the application need to be reinstalled if we preserve the disk? Can it be transferred to new disk?

Resolution

We’ve had customers do this successfully before, but we don’t support it.

If it is going to be successful, the disk image you transfer must be complete in all aspects. Not just the directories and files, but all of the environment, pathing, permissions, naming conventions - everything, must be the same.

And finally, play it safe and be prepared in case it does fail. Have the Web Viewer base install, the appropriate maintenance build and your configuration files on hand in case you need to do the install and configuration over.
