TPX - Session Management Vman Session Management for z/OS

Issue/Introduction

Question:

Is there any flexibility in how TPX will behave when a user presses the ATTN key?

Answer:

The ATTN Key on your keyboard can be used to go back to the TPX Menu or cause an interrupt to the current application that you are using.

The Attention Key Option is located in your SMRT  User Default Parameters (option 6).

SMRT User Parameters

Attention Key Option - Specifies how the ATTN key works in TPX.

Valid values:

- APPL, sends an ATTENTION interrupt to the current application.

- MENU, displays the TPX Menu the first time the user presses the ATTN key. Pressing ATTN a second time during the Attention Key Interval (explained below) sends an ATTENTION interrupt to the current application.

- NONE, tells TPX to ignore all pressing of the ATTN key.

Attention Key Interval - When MENU is specified in the "Attention Key Option" field and the user presses the ATTN key once, this is the amount of time the user has to press it again to interrupt the current session. Specify a time in seconds.

NOTE: There are no user level or profile level overrides for these two parameters.
