Issue/Introduction

How are the userid and password stored in TPX for ACL script use?

Environment

TPX® Session Management for z/OS

Resolution

The password is stored encrypted in memory in the UINDEX control block for use, such as in ACL's.

The exception to this is if you define - SMRT(9) - security settings:

Suppress Pswds in Memory - Specifies whether or not TPX stores passwords in memory.  If set to Y passwords are not stored. ACL/E variables &PSWD, &OPSWD, and &NPSWD cannot be used.  Do not use this option if SECURE=TPX. TPX uses its own Encrypt / Decrypt mechanism.

The password is not stored in the TPX database.  Only userids may be stored in the ADMIN2 database depending on how TPX is customized. Dynamic users' userids are NOT stored unless also defined as saved dynamic.
