CEM Agents cannot register with the site server

Issue/Introduction

Error in the Agent:

• Failed to resolve target address <Site server address> from list <Site Server names>
• Failed to resolve all target addresses from list <Site Server names>

Error in the Gateway:

• Exception during receive from [ip: xx.xx.xx.xx:xx id:xx, type: Client, Disposed: false] and sending to [ip: xx.xx.xx.xx:xx id:xx, type: Server, Disposed: false] : System.IO.IOException: Unable to read data from the transport connector: an existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host.--->System.Net.Sockets.SocketException: an existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host

Environment

ITMS 8.x

 

Cause

After checking the assigned task server, we found the following warning in the logs:

• Failed to handle web service request: RegisterClient could not contact Task Server's service. Please make sure the service Altiris Object Host service is started and functional.

Also the site server was not registered to itself as a task server.  So the issue is with the services on this task server.

Resolution

Open the services on the site server:

• Restart the Altiris Object Host service 
• Restart Altiris Client Task Data loader
