Starting with XCOM r11 SP1 for AS/400 i5/OS users will notice that when they issue the command STRXCTCP to start the XCOM TCPIP server it will no longer start the Agents. The number of Agents that started in the previous version and release of XCOM was controlled by the value specified for MAXCLIENTS. That is no longer the case with SP1. MAXCLIENTS will only control the number of simultaneous transfers you can have at a given time.
XCOM™ Data Transport® for AS/400 i5/OS
Yes, parameter MAXCLIENTS is still relevant and important for XCOM r11 SP1 for AS/400.
In the past version and release of XCOM the value specified for MAXCLIENTS would control the number of XCOM TCPIP Agents that were started and the number of simultaneous transfers you could have at any given time. Starting with XCOM r11 SP1 for AS/400 the value will only control the number of simultaneous transfers you can have at a given time. Users will no longer see the XCOM TCPIP Agent(s) started when they issue command STRXCTCP to start the XCOM TCPIP server.
If you would like to change the value of MAXCLIENTS, issue the command STRXCTCP and press PF4 to prompt the command. At this point you can change the value of MAXCLIENTS.
