Issue/Introduction

You have or will upgrade a group of Symantec Endpoint Protection clients to a ''Patch'' Build such as '14.3 ru3 Patch 1' or '14.3 ru2 patch 1' or '14.3 ru2 patch 2' and are asking of the Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager also needs upgrading to a similar build such as 'Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager 14.3 ru1 patch 1'.

Environment

Windows 10, Windows 11, Server 2012, Server 2016, Server 2019, Server 2022

Resolution

No.  As long as the Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager's major version matches or EXCEEDS the client major build number a SEPM upgrade is not required.  

Patch builds of clients are bug fix only,  and do not contain changes to logging or features.  Because the client's logging is not modified and no new features are added,  the SEPM upgrade is not required.
