No specific problems were reported since the product-related datasets are PDS datasets and/or PS files

For SMR
Must prevent migration of the MASTER, ALTERN, Daily log file and Archive daily log file of the SMR.

For JMR
Must prevent migration of the MASTER, ALTERN, Daily log file, Archive daily log file and Index file of the JMR.

Additional Information

DFSMShsm is a licensed program that automatically performs space management and availability management in a storage device hierarchy. DFSMShsm makes sure that space is available on your Direct Access Storage Device (DASD) volumes so that you can extend your old data sets and allocate new ones. DFSMShsm also makes sure that backup copies of your data sets are always available if your working copies are lost or corrupted.

The SMR HOLD file should not be space managed by DFSMS. The space allocation may change based on the SYSLOG size being spooled.

 

None of the JMR or SMR files are VSAM files. They are all PS (sequential files).

 

The control files (PPOPTIONS) are all PDS files but the DAILY files (SYSLOG, JOBLOG) are PS files. As is the HOLD file.
