CA APM seems to be causing performance issues for WAS monitoring

CA Application Performance Management (APM / Wily / Introscope)

Issue/Introduction

Installed 21.1 WAS CA APM on several ECOM servers.  Team turned them off because of performance issues on the servers and stated that it fixed their issue.  Not sure what is could be causing the performance issue.

Resolution

1/28/22 11:17:45 AM EST [WARN] [IntroscopeAgent.Agent] Absolute metric clamp of 5000 reached, no more metrics can be created.  Instrumentation on this application should be reduced.
1/28/22 11:17:45 AM EST [WARN] [IntroscopeAgent.Agent] Note: if no more metrics can be created when the agent starts up, there may be exceptions in the startup process. Increasing the clamp value may solve these exceptions.

 

The other messages were

decorateTransactionsWithError fails with null tcs. need to configure a tracer that creates tcs

 

Increasing the clamp limit on the agent seem to fix the problem.
