Starting of CDA impossible due to the missing of Oracle.DataAccess.dll

CA Continuous Delivery Automation - Automation Engine


After the deployment of a new Automation Engine System 12.3.8+build.1643667894194) and Automic Release Automation Version 10.0.8 the, ARA is unable to start and throws the following error in the log.txt file.


Connection - Name: EUT0; System: EUT0;
    System - User: 2000/ARA/ARA; Client: 2000.
        Queue trigger - Agent: AGENTNAME; Login: UC4_RL.LOGIN.ALL.
        Connection strings:
            MainDatabase:Invalid Oracle connection string
            DB Versions: Error when retrieving DB SchemaInfo: Invalid DatabaseService's providers setting. Could not load file or assembly 'Oracle.DataAccess, Version=, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=89b483f429c47342' or one of its dependencies. The located assembly's manifest definition does not match the assembly reference. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80131040)
            ReportDatabase:Invalid Oracle connection string


The ODAC (Oracle Data Access Component) version is installed 19.3

The Oracle.DataAccess.dll is deployed as per recommendation here CDA requirements.

Oracle.DataAccess.dll is listed in the Global Assembly Cache of windows (GAC).

ODAC follows the recommendation given in this article.


The cause of this problem is not clear at this time.

A solution to fix the problem consists in customizing the web.config by adding a reference to the Oracle.DataAccess after copying directly in the ARA/WebUI/bin folder. 

The application will now start and run as expected.

Additional Information

Please aware that this reference must be updated each time the ODAC is updated to take in account  the OracleDataAccess.dll.
