SOI Application Server does not startup due to Self Monitoring

Issue/Introduction

SOI 4.2 - 

Windows 2012 R2

Today our customer has installed Windows updates and afterwards the SOI Application Server does not startup anymore. Seeing this messages in the soimgr-debug.log

Initial SessionFactory creation failed:java.lang.NullPointerException

at com.ca.sam.manager.connector.ConnectorManager.createConnectorCIProjection(ConnectionManager.java:10228)

at com.ca.sam.manager.servlet.ManagerInitServlet.startSelfMonitor(ManagerInitServlet.java:383)

Component : Service Operations Insight (SOI) Manager

Resolution

It looks like it's encountering a problem with the Self Monitoring feature.

Turn off this feature if enabled.

Stop all SOI services

In the AdminConfiguration table, there is a SelfMonitoring column, if is is set to true, change it to false.

Start SOI services

In the Administration page, expand Manager Configuration, go to Global Settings and turn the Self Monitoring Setting to Yes.

 

NOTE: If setting is not being saved, try using a different Web Browser like Firefox or Chrome.
