Issue/Introduction

Questions regarding the Xmanager Coupling Facility List Structure allocation requirements for the Database Management Solutions for Db2 for z/OS products:

Is the job to allocate the Coupling Facility (CF) List Structure required to run on every LPAR where Xmanager is active?
Is the job to allocate the Coupling Facility List Structure required to run once and never more or to be scheduled it in other situations?
After an IPL of an LPAR do the jobs need to be run again?

Resolution

The CF List Structure must be allocated one time per Sysplex. The CF List Structure can be allocated in one of two ways:

- When PTF LU09714 is installed, the first Xmanager that starts with XSYS=Y on an LPAR in the Sysplex will allocate the CF List Structure.
- The Post Install PXMCFA job that allocates the CF List Structure can be run on any LPAR in the Sysplex.

The CF List Structure is persistent. If the CF List Structure becomes deallocated due to a power-on reset then use one of the two processes above to allocate the structure.
