Issue/Introduction

Attempting to connect to a Db2 subsystem that belongs to a Data Sharing Group on a remote LPAR via the Database Management Products Main Menu and the following error occurs:

RC=008, RCODE=0018 DB2 'ssid' SYSTEM NOT OPERATIONAL - STARTUP ECB NOT ACCEPTED

Cause

The Data Sharing group attach name was not defined in the SETUPxx member in highlvl.CDBAPARM.

Resolution

The SETUPxx member in highlvl.CDBAPARM must have the Data Sharing group attach name along with each member of the DSGROUP defined. It is also recommended that the Data Sharing Group Name be specified in the SSID field on the Database Management Solutions Db2 Main Menu. If the group attach name is not specified as the SSID then an actual Data Sharing member may be specified but must be active on the respective LPAR.
