Issue/Introduction

This article clarifies support for deploying images across different partition styles and boot modes. Specifically, it addresses whether a GPT or UEFI-based image can be deployed to an MBR or Legacy-based system.

Resolution

Ghost does not support the conversion of images from GPT/UEFI to MBR/Legacy during deployment. To ensure a successful restoration, follow these requirements:

• GPT/UEFI Images: These cannot be deployed to Legacy/MBR-based machines. If a UEFI-based image is being deployed, Legacy boot options (CSM) should be disabled in the system BIOS.
• Legacy/MBR Images: These can be deployed to UEFI based machines. Ghost will attempt to convert the image
