Issue/Introduction

IT Analytics (ITA) is a web-based application hosted by a local server running Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS) with a database hosted by a local instance of Microsoft SQL Server [Enterprise Edition] and an OLAP cube hosted on a local instance of Microsoft SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS). Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) is used to generate and host reports created from the data stored in the ITA cubes.

Resolution

Because of the nature of its architecture, ITA does not install nor run any processes of its own. The host processes on which ITA is dependent are as follows:

Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS)

• World Wide Web Publishing Service [service name: W3SVC]

Microsoft SQL Server

• SQL Server (MSSQLSERVER | instance name) [service name: MSSQLSERVER | MSSQL$InstanceName]
• SQL Server Agent [service name: SQLSERVERAGENT | SQLAgent$InstanceName]

Microsoft SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS)

• SQL Server Analysis Services (MSSQLSERVER | instance name) [service name: MSSQLServerOLAPService | MSOLAP$InstanceName]
