Issue/Introduction

When configuring a PxPolicy to initiate a SOAP call in Identity Manager, specific attributes are required, including the WSDL URL, SOAP version, and request message.

This article defines the standard template required for the SOAP Action attribute.

Environment

Identity Manager 14.5

Cause

The SOAP Action attribute in a PxPolicy configuration must strictly follow the defined naming convention to successfully interact with the target web service.

Resolution

Use the following standards to configure your SOAP Action and verify the endpoint requirements.

  1. Apply Naming Convention: The SOAP Action is typically a combination of the task name and the suffix "Soap." For example, if your task name is CreateUser, the required SOAP Action is CreateUserSoap.
  2. Verify via SoapUI: To confirm the correct SOAP Action if the standard naming convention is unsuccessful, utilize an external tool such as SoapUI:
    • Import your WSDL into SoapUI.
    • Generate the request for the specific operation.
    • Navigate to the Raw tab in the request view to identify the exact SOAP Action required by the service.
  3. Configure PxPolicy: Enter the validated SOAP Action into the PxPolicy configuration attribute.
  4. Test Integration: Save the PxPolicy and perform a test execution to verify successful communication with the target SOAP endpoint.
