COMMON SERVICES FOR Z/OS

Issue/Introduction

I have tried to manually start CALOGGER (F CAMASTER,START COMPONENT=CALOGGER) and am getting the following security error.

CAMS416I Command: START
CAMS410I CALOGGER started.
IEE296I CALOGGER FAILED BY SECURITY INTERFACE.  RC=0000001C RSN=00000000 SAFRC=00000008
CAMS407W CALOGGER restart threshold exceeded.

Environment

Release : 15.0
Component : COMMON LOGGER

Security Product: Top Secret

Resolution

If the CALOGGER service is being started during the IPL process, no security definitions are required as the CAMASTER address space will handle the startup. The CALOGGER address space is defined a security subsystem user ID for the CALOGGER address space.

However, if the CALOGGER address space is manually started after Top Secret security is active, the CALOGGER task will require read access to the system parmlib and alter access to any defined logdevices/logfiles. This may require an ID be defined and permitted these access requirements. It is recommended that your OEM security documentation be reviewed for STC requirements.
