Issue/Introduction

After upgrading the ASG or the ProxySG to release 6.7.5.16, 6.7.5.17, 7.3.7.1, 7.3.8.1 or to 7.3.8.2, CPU utilization may increase. On the ASG, performance degradation may be seen if the system CPU utilization is above 80%.

Cause

On the ASG, patching potential security issues, found in an internal security review, on the platform increased CPU utilization and may have a greater impact on units already running with high CPU utilization. On these units, the CPU utilization could increase by 7-16%. On the ProxySG an upgrade could potentially increase CPU utilization by 3%, affecting plain HTTP (non-HTTPS) traffic. Upgrading is recommended to mitigate potential security issues if the units are not running with high CPU utilization (greater than 70%).

Resolution

This performance issue is addressed in:

- SGOS version 6.7.5.18 and later

- SGOS version 7.3.9.1 and later.
