Push Symantec Management agent fails and Symantec Management Agent Download fails with HTTP Error 500.19

Issue/Introduction

Fail to push Symantec Management Agent to computers. 

Also when we try to download the HTTP or HTTPS Symantec Management Agent download package, it fails with the error: 

• 500 - Internal Server Error
• or
• HTTP Error 500.19 - Internal Server Error

Environment

Release: 8.x

Cause

Authenticated Users did not have access to Altiris Folder and folders inside Altiris Folder, such as 

Program Files\Altiris\Notification Server\NSCap\Bin\web.config

Resolution

 

• Right Click on Program Files\Altiris
• Properties > Security Tab
• Make sure you have 'Authenticated Users' with the following permissions:
  • Read & Execute
  • List folder contents
  • Read
• Click on Advanced
• Choose Authenticated Users > Change Permissions
• Check 'Replace all child object permission entries with inheritable permission entries from this object'
• Apply> OK
