Historical Metric Count Calculation

Issue/Introduction

We have an APM agent which at the collector level is shown clamping above our 70k clamp. In the Wily console, the metric count tab is sitting at around 25k metrics. Am I right in assuming that this clamp value is actually based on the 'Historical Metric Count'? If so, are there any recommendations on how this can be lowered other than reducing the number of metrics collected which was my first advisement to the support teams?

Yes, the 70K clamp limit you have is the live+historical metrics.  There are two clamps on the EM side here.  The first is a live metric clamp, meaning all the data coming in right now from the Agent to the Collector.  Picture the equivalent being people walking into a store.  Those are live metrics.

Then you have the live and historical metric clamp.  That is the total number of people already inside the store (historical metrics) and the people walking through the entrance doors of the store (live metrics).
