Issue/Introduction

Is DISK BACKUP and RESTORE affected by DAYLIGHT SAVINGS TIME (DST)?

 

Environment

z/os   Disk Release 12.5 and 14.0 

 

Resolution

During Fall Daylight Savings time Disk would be affected if backup/archive is run in the hour after the fall back.  Disk could create an entry for the new backup with an ‘older time”.    As long as the database/data set is not reorganized, the versions will be okay. But it is recommended not to run backup/archive during that hour. 

During Spring Daylight Savings time Disk is not affected because the time isn't replicated.
