It can happen that using the APP administrator user to define a new Public Host with a specific IP Address, a pop up error is generated indicating that :
'Host with the same address already exists.'
The message in the newer version of Vantage SP is
The host name "####" already exists. Specify a unique host name
In this case the APP user cannot find the Host with the same address in the known list of all Public or Private Hosts already defined.
How can one find the user who defined a Private Host using the same IP Address?
Follow the below steps to find who has defined the unidentified Private Host:
1. Log on to Vantage StoragePointâ„¢ Web Client using the APP user and select the VantageDB application.
2. Select the "Databases" item in the Left Menu Navigation panel in the prior versions of Vantage SP web client:
If it is a newer version of Vantage SP web client then select "Admin Settings" (gear icon) item in the Left Menu Navigation panel.
3. Click on the HOST item in the "Databases" Tree and all of the host definitions will be listed in a table format that is displayed in the "HOST" tab. Here all the details about each host definition will be available, including the userid that created it.
In this way logging into the Vantage StoragePointâ„¢ Web Client using the identified userid will make it possible to Delete the Private Host, thus allowing the APP user to then define the Public Host with the correct IP Address.
