Issue/Introduction

Using LSERV to manage endevor files.

When using Endevor, a newly-defined user raises security violations in the LSERV started task for resource name ALL under resource class $LSRVDSN.

What is the purpose of this security check?

Environment

Endevor - any release

LSERV - any release

Resolution

$LSRVDSN resource class is checked by LSERV to see whether the user is authorized to access LSERV-managed files via LSERV without conflicting with any access permission that the user could have under the standard DATASET resource class.

The resource names checked under this class usually match the DSN of the dataset being accessed. However, special resource name  ALL is used to grant the users access to any dataset managed by LSERV regardless of its DSN

Additional Information

This security check is documented in the Common Services online documentation, section "Update external security for L-Serv" , which can also be found manually by navigating to "Installing", "Complete configuration tasks", "Configure L-Serv", "Update external security for L-Serv"
