Installing Endevor Maintenance and getting error GIM48400S

Issue/Introduction

Received LU01963 and need to REJECT it since the SMPPTS and SMPPTS1 datasets ran out of space. 

The SMP/E errors received are as follows: 

 

GIM44001I    SYSTEM ABEND E37 OCCURRED WITH A REASON CODE OF '00000004'X AFTER SMP/E CALLED THE GIMSTOW UTILITY. THE SMPPTS1 LIBRARY RAN OUT OF SPACE.
GIM48400S ** SYSMOD SO08788 COULD NOT BE SAVED BECAUSE THE SMPPTS AND ALL OF ITS SPILL DATA SETS RAN OUT OF SPACE.
GIM20501I    RECEIVE PROCESSING IS COMPLETE. THE HIGHEST RETURN CODE WAS 12.

What is the the best way to handle this situation?

Resolution

Looked up error GIM48400S and IBM States as follows: 

 

GIM48400S   enttype entname COULD NOT BE SAVED BECAUSE THE SMPPTS AND ALL OF ITS SPILL DATA SETS RAN OUT OF SPACE.

 

Explanation

Enttype - entry type

Entname - entry name

The specified member could not be save because the SMPPTS and all of its spill data sets are out of space or directory blocks. 

 

System action

Command processing stops.

 

Programmer response

Do any of the following:

• Increase the size of the SMPPTS or one or more of the spill data sets.
• Define additional SMPPTS spill data sets. See SMP/E for z/OS Referencefor information on defining SMPPTS spill data sets.
• Reduce the number of SYSMODs being saved in the SMPPTS and its spill data sets by doing a REJECT or by accepting SYSMODs that have already been applied.
